in a big box store. i tell the greeter that i only have bills and he offers to make change for me. when he pours the coins in my hand i thank him and close my fingers over them before running after my friends. when i open my hand it is a flat copper key that looks like a squat cross. once outside we are in an amusement park. i look into one of the themed buildings and see a mostly empty space with a couple of children dancing on the linoleum floors. this is perfect for her, i think. and i go in to join her father. she is adorable in her pink winter coat and white hat. a boy, just her size, is wearing red and blue stripes. they smile at each other and at us, bouncing and twirling to music in their own minds. they are each about 1.5 feet tall.
